I went up to Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu in early June and decided to go check out the area a little bit more when I ran across this lake. I was seriously blown away. What a jewel in the desert! In addition to a great view of the Cerro Pedernal (Flint Mountain), I did not expect to find this much water in the the middle of the desert and especially not water this pristine and blue! It was a visual treat seeing that turquoise water with the red rocks in the distance. It was also fun to see people out on the lake boating, fishing, and jet skiing. I hiked around the lake a little bit and noticed the pinon pines, juniper and sage and so many beautiful rocks. While I did not find any, apparently reptile fossils 200 million years old have been found here too. Cool!
